Why focus on Health Sciences?

We have chosen to focus on Health Sciences because we believe that while practical curricula that lead to jobs are a valuable contribution to the educational scene, we also believe there is a larger problem to be dealt with. Science education tends to be weak everywhere in the world. One reason for this is that the science that is presented to students is out of context and unexciting. Another is that it is passive, requiring no real reasoning from evidence in an attempt to make real discoveries. We think that a Health Sciences curriculum could be used to address the need for workers in various places, and also to help teach reasoning from evidence in high schools for those students not particularly interested in science.
