Healthy Aortic Valve

These image shows the interior of a healthy aortic valve. The yellow/tan top portions are the inside of the blood vessels. The arrows indicate the pink cusps that form the valves. Before being cut and laid flat to reveal the interior, the top portion (the yellow/tan blood vessel) formed a tube and the pink cusps connected to form a valve across the end of the tube. (The 3.25 cm measurement is included to give you a better sense of the size of the valve.)
