By now, you should have a good sense of the Ug99 problem. Choosing a proposal to fund is a big job, so it is crucial that you organize the work ahead. I’d like you and your colleagues to develop a work plan. A work plan is an organized look at everything you must do to complete a project. It allows you to set timeframes and make assignments. Creating a work plan will help you manage your tasks and time more effectively.
When the FAO reviews a proposal, we always follow the same basic process. I’d like your team to use that process as well. It involves three major stages:
- Gathering and analyzing information
- Writing recommendations in a report
- Presenting findings
Within each of these stages, you can organize your work however your team decides to, but this will be our basic process.
Keep in mind that a work plan is a dynamic document that may be subject to revision many times during the project. It’s important to be as accurate as possible but if you don’t have all the details for each stage of the project yet, that’s ok. Do you best to plan ahead, but keep in mind that you’ll have opportunities to update your work plan as the project continues.
After you have drafted your work plan, I’ll check in and make sure you know what to do next.
Ciao,
Armando
