I hope you are finding your residency program here at Lincoln Regional Medical Center to be a worthwhile and rewarding experience so far. One of the requirements of your residency entails serving on the Medical Center’s Ethics Committee.
Your rotation on this committee will begin with a case involving the hospital’s policy on transplanting organs into people receiving methadone treatment for drug addiction. Everyone on the committee will submit opinions on the case. Since you are new to this work, I will walk you through the process of considering the case using our ethical reasoning process.
I will email you more information about the case shortly.
Sincerely,
Chris Jones, M.D. Chair, Ethics Committee
Lincoln Regional Medical Center
