What
clinical findings (signs, symptoms, and test
results) indicate CMV or HSV?
Traditional symptoms associated with meningitis and encephalitis can be found, but the diagnosis is confirmed by finding edema deep in the brain tissue on the head MRI, especially in the temporal or parietal lobe of the brain. It can also be confirmed through growth in the spinal culture or the use of a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.

Treatment Options
This infection is often deadly, but Acyclovir is usually successful if it is not caught too late.
