What is a coma?
A patient in a coma is in a state of unconsciousness. This means the individual is alive, but doesn’t respond to anything around him/her. Comas can be the natural result of illness or injury or a doctor can medically induce them.

Lack of consciousnes
No response to stimuli, such as pain or light
Inability to be aroused
Lack of sleep-wake cycles
