What is hearing loss?

Hearing loss is the gradual or sudden loss of ability to hear sound in one or both ears.

How can you tell if a patient has hearing loss?

The patient may complain about his/her decreased ability to hear. Physicians may conduct a hearing test or an auditory response test to determine the extent of the loss.

 

Possible Causes/Diagnosis

There are many causes of hearing loss including genetic, congenital, traumatic and toxic causes. Click here for more information on these causes.

  • Measles

  • Ear Infection
