The questions on GM muscles are in and you can begin preparing for the presentation. Here are some thoughts in addition to their questions to help guide your research and what you include in the presentation:
Discuss the ethics involved with GM muscles, as well as issues around the GM of humans more generally.
Consider previous policies that were related to genetics, including the Eugenics Movement.
Look at how the genetic modification of muscles similar to and different from other medical procedures that are now regularly given to people who don’t “need” them (e.g., plastic surgery).
I want you to do a focus group on GM muscles similar to the ones you’ve already done. Try to use a new group of people for this focus group if possible to help you get a broaden your perspective on the range of topics. Start recruiting people for the focus group so you’re ready to run it once you finish your initial research.
Same drill as before: keep track of information for the presentation, to take care of the question and answer session, to participate in the debate, and for your final report. When you’re done with your initial research, please send me a status report as well as a rough outline of the information you want to include in the presentation.
