I received an email this morning from Jim Mayer, the representative from the Toyco plant in Arizona. The workers and management at the plant wanted to thank us for our help with the investigation and the recommendations we provided regarding how to prevent similar incidents in the future. I've forwarded his email to you. Thank you for all your help on the investigation, not just from Toyco but from the NDCC and myself as well.
Sincerely,
Sam Lyons, MD

Decontamination at the Toyco Plant Complete
I wanted to thank everyone at the NDCC who helped with the cocci investigation for their hard work.
Since the investigation, we have decontaminated most of the plant and are taking steps to help keep the dust around the plant on the ground and out of the air. All the workers who tested positive for cocci in the cohort study have received treatment and are doing well. Management also has implement procedures to keep an eye on wind and dust storms in the area to make sure the plant is decontaminated as needed in the future.
We're also looking into other ways to prevent this and similar situations from arising in the future.
The actions we've taken have restored confidence in our workers and productivity has been restored. Though it will take some time to reestablish our reputation with the public I believe the actions we've taken, based largely on the recommendations of the NDCC, will serve everyone involved well in the long run.
