Cohort Discussion
During this rotation you have looked at the financial implications of possible investment options. Discuss the following with members of your cohort:

• What else besides the financial implications should be considered when making an important business decision? Are these other considerations more, less or equally important to the financial considerations?


• As a consultant, is it better to recommend the decision you think is best and defend your choice before the client or should you recommend the decision your client will be most likely to agree with?


• Which demand figure you chose to base you analysis on and why. How did using different demand figures change the analysis? If you had to complete this project again would you use the same demand figure? Why or why not?

Reflection Questions

Working individually, write a response to the following questions. Once you have completed the questions, please submit the assignment to your mentor.

1. During this rotation, you were asked to project the demand for hospital services using the input of experts. What are the potential problems with projection? How can errors in projection affect other parts of the analysis? What can be done to prevent projection errors?


2. The skills you have practice in this rotation can be applied in many different situations. Consider the following:
   
   
   1. Think of a business you might like to open in your local area. You might consider selling something on the Internet, doing simple tasks for friend or opening a small store. Create a plan for projecting the demand for that business. What information will you need to project demand? How will you obtain that information?
   
   
   2. Your long-lost, rich aunt dies and leaves you an inheritance of $50,000. Her will states that you can’t have the money until you turn 30, unless you can present a compelling reason why you should get it now. Use the skills you have learned about calculating future value and present value to create an argument for why you shouldn’t have to wait for the money. Be sure to include the results of the calculations you perform.
