What are basophils?
Basophils are a white blood cell that seem to be important in producing allergic reactions. They are the least common of the white blood cells, comprising only 0.01 % to 0.3% of the white blood cell count. With the eosinophil and neutrophil, they form the class of polymorphonuclear cells (PMNs).Basophils are tested as part of a white blood cell (WBC) count in either a blood test or spinal tap.
