What are neutrophils?

Neutrophils (also known as Granulocytes) are the most abundant type of white blood cell in the body. With the eosinophil and basophil, they form the class of polymorphonuclear cells (PMNs). Neutrophils are tested as part of a white blood cell (WBC) count in a blood test and/or spinal tap. Click here to learn more about white blood cells and a WBC.
