Step-By-Step Guide
- Review Pat Niren’s email, which concludes the scenario portion of the rotation.
- Read the reflection question in the Reflect on what you’ve learned section. Start by asking yourself what exactly you have been asked to do.
- Prepare to respond to the question.
- Think about the fad diet you want to evaluate. Choose from the suggested diets or come up with your own, doing research as necessary.
- Open a new Microsoft Word document.
- Create and save a template for your response using the filename specified in the Submit your work section.
- Draft your response to the reflection question.
- Research the fad diet you have chosen to evaluate using the Internet and the Resources available from all of the previous tasks in this rotation to help you.
- Take notes as you do research. Once you think you have gathered enough information, organize your notes in a structured way to help you prepare to draft your response to the reflection question. You may also use the Writing section of the General Skills Resources in the left menu as needed to structure a well-organized written response.
- Draft a 3-4 page response using the template you created. Remember to directly answer the question, grounding your answer in science as much as you can.
- Evaluate the diet thoroughly and include a full justification of your evaluation.
- Explain your process of evaluating the diet, and any diet you might ever evaluate for safety and effectiveness.
- Consider what it means for a diet to be safe and what it means for a diet to be effective.
- Review your work.
- Did you provide a thorough response to the question?
- Did you ground your answer in science?
- Submit your work. Review the checklist located on the Submit your work section of this task and submit the response to your mentor.
