Bias, Confounding Factors, and Error Types |
Thanks for your help in interpreting the ORs in my case-control study; I think I now get it.
Now that I written a draft of my report on the case-control study we conducted at the Tip Hotel, I’ve been told to consider Type I and Type II errors as well as evaluate my study for any potential bias or confounding factors and discuss any potential problems in the report. I recognize these terms and know I learned them once, but I think the last time I used any of these was to pass a final in college years ago. I’m sure that if I’m reminded of the difference between Type I and II errors and have some information on bias and confounding errors, it'll all come back to me and I'll be able to evaluate my study myself. Can you let me know what these terms mean and provide an example of each to help refresh my memory so I can finish my report? I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Andy
